वे यदि भिक्षु के इस कथन को स्वीकृति प्रदान करें तो उस साधु को भोजन-पानी के लिये गृहस्थ-कुलों की ओर जाना प्राना कल्पता है, यावत् ध्यानमुद्रा में खड़ा रहना कल्पता है। यदि वे भिक्षुक के उक्त कथन को स्वीकार नहीं करें तो उस भिक्षुक को गृहपति कुलों की ओर जाना-माना, यावत् कायोत्सर्ग करना या ध्यानमुद्रा में खड़ा रहना नहीं कल्पता है ।
२८१. वर्षावास में रहे हुए श्रमणों और श्रमणियों को शय्या और आसन का अभिग्रह किये बिना रहना नहीं कल्पता है। यह प्रादान है अर्थात् दोषों का कारण है - जो साधु और साध्वी शय्या और ग्रासन का अभिग्रह नहीं करते हैं, उन्हें जमीन से ऊंचा नहीं रखते हैं, स्थिर नहीं रखते हैं, अकारण हो उन्हें बांधते रहते हैं, बिना माप के प्रासन रखते हैं, आसनादि को धूप नहीं दिखाते हैं, समितियों में सावधान नहीं रहते हैं, पुनः पुनः प्रतिलेखना नहीं करते हैं और बारम्बार प्रमार्जना नहीं करते हैं, उनको तथाप्रकार से संयम की आराधना करना कठिनतम होता है ।
यह अनादान है अर्थात् दोष रहित है जो श्रमण अथवा श्रमणी शय्या और ग्रासन का श्रभिग्रह करते हैं, शय्यादि को जमीन से ऊंचा रखते हैं, स्थिर रखते हैं, उनको निरर्थक पुनः पुनः नहीं बांधते हैं, प्रमाण युक्त घासनादि रखते हैं,
If the person addressed, promises to look after the said article during the monk's absence, he may go, but not otherwise.
281. During paryuşana, monks or nuns should give proper attention to their mattresses and seatspreads. The reason is this: a monk who does not pay due attention to his mattress or his seat spread, and does not store it at a sufficient height from the floor, or does not secure it properly, tying it with too long a string, or not making sure that the string is of the right size or does not keep these articles in the sun when necessary, or does not make proper of them (samiti-rahita), or does not inspect them at regular intervals and does not clean them frequently-such a monk will find it exceedingly difficult to practise self-control.
