Can one travel at the speed of light? (Light travels at the speed of 186,000 miles per second.) In Kalpa-Sutra there is an incident where a God converts himself into electropudgalas and came down on the earth at the speed of light. After doing his duty he went back at the same speed and converted himself back to the "human" form.
When a small bullet is fired from a gun, it harms or kills the victim because it is fired at a great speed. In one war incident, as described in Jain Scriptures, feathers were fired at tremendous speed and the result was deadly!

This is the age of the laser. In the story of the life of Lord Mahavir, one angry monk, Gosalak, releases Tejo-Lesya (heat laser) on the Lord. This did not however kill Lord Mahavir because of his divine powers but he certainly fell ill due to the immense heat. The Lord reflected the rays of the Lesya to strike the striker. Gosalak thus died from the effect of his own laser.
Physicists say that matter or energy cannot be created or destroyed. Matter can be transformed into energy and Jainism goes further to say that energy can be transformed into matter.

This theory states that our universe has always existed and it will always exist in one form or another.
(૩) પ્રકાશની ઝડપે માનવી જઈ શકે ખરો? પ્રકાશની ઝડપ એક સેકંડના ૧ લાખ, ૮૬ હજાર માઈલની છે. વિજ્ઞાન એમ કહે છે કે જેમ ચિત્ર (ટેલીવીઝન બરા) એક ગ્યાએથી બીજી ગ્યાએ રિલે થાય છે અને માત્ર સેકંડમાં જ થાય છે તેમ પદાર્થ (કે મનુષ્ય) સેલે થઈ શકે ખરે? અત્યારના વિજ્ઞાનની સીમાની બહારની આ વાત છે.
લ્પસૂત્રમાં એમ દર્શાવેલ છે કે ભગવાનના ગર્ભની અદલાબદલી કરવા માટે હરિદ્વૈગમેષી નામના દેવ, દેવલોકમાંથી આવે છે. એ પોતાના પુલ શીરને વિદ્યુતમય બનાવીને દેવલોકમાંથી પૃથ્વી પર આવીને ગર્ભ સંક્રમણ કરે છે. અને કી પાછું વિદ્યુતમય શર્સરમાંથી મૂળ સ્વરૂપ ધારણ કરી દે છે. આ વખતે તે પ્રકાશની ગતિથી “ઉડે છે. (૪) બંદુકમાંથી નીકળતી ગોળી નાની હોય છે પરંતુ તે અતિ તીવ્ર ઝડપે બહાર આવે છે તેથી મૃત્યુ નીપજાવે છે. જૈન ગ્રંથમાં શીલાકંટકની વાત છે એમાંથી પક્ષીનું પીછુ એટલી તીવ્ર ગતિથી છોડી શકાય કે તે પીછું પણ માનવીને ઘાત કરી શકે આવા શસ્ત્ર પહેલાં હશે ને? (૫) અત્યારે લેઝરને જમાને છે. ગોશાલકે ધાવેશમાં મહાવીર સ્વામી પર તે લેશ્યા છોડી હતી. અત્યારે આવું કાર્યલેઝર કરી શકે છે. અને તે પણ વેશ્યાની જેમ તેજના લીસોટા સમાન હોય છે. (૬) અત્યારની ખગોળશાસ્ત્રની માન્યતા પ્રમાણે દ્રવ્ય કે શકિતને નાશ થતો નથી માત્ર રૂપાંતર જ થાય છે. જૈન શાસ્ત્રો કહે છે: ગુણ પર્યાયવ દ્રથમ (તત્વાર્થ સૂત્ર ૫/૩૭) દ્રવ્ય જે છે તેમાં ગુણ (Quality) અને પર્યાય (Modification) બે લક્ષણ છે. તેમાં રૂપાંતર થઈ શકે છે પરંતુ તે સમગ્રતયા નાશ થતો નથી. દ્રવ્યનું શકિતમાં રૂપાંતર થાય છે (બોંબ તૂરા) પરંતુ હવે એમ પણ વિજ્ઞાન કહે છે કે સૈધાંતિક રીતે શકિતમાંથી દ્રવ્યમાં રૂપાંતર શક્ય છે.
