* સામાયિક - પ્રતિક્રમણ *
સમતાભાવમાં સ્થિર રહીને એકાંત, શાંત ગ્યાએ ૪૮ મિનિટ ધર્મ-ધ્યાન, સ્વાધ્યાય કરવા તેનું નામ સામાયિક. અલબત્ત આગળ-પાછળ થોડાં સૂત્રો બોલીને સરળ પણ નાનકડી વિધિ હોય છે. સામાયિક કરવાથી ચિત્તની પ્રસન્નતા અને શાંતિ પ્રાપ્ત થાય છે. પોતાના આત્માને ઓળખવાની અને ધર્મ જ્ઞાન મેળવવાની આ સાદી ક્ષિા વ્યવહારિક રીતે પણ અગત્યની છે.

પ્રતિકમાણ *
પ્રતિક્રમણ એટલે પાપમાંથી પાછી હઠવું. સર્વ જીવોની ક્ષમાયાચના માટેનાં સૂત્રો તથા વદનના સૂત્રો ભણવામાં (બોલવામાં) આવે છે. જાણતા-અજાણતા થયેલાં દોષ માટે માફી માગીને મૂળ માર્ગ પર પાછા આવવું, કટિબદ્ધ થવું તે જ સાચું પ્રતિક્રમણ. પ્રતિક્રમણમાં મુહપત્ની પડીલેહણ આવે છે આની પાછળ પણ પાપને લુછી નાખવાની પ્રતીકાત્મક ભાવના છે.
પચ્ચકખાણ :– આનું મૂળ નામ પ્રત્યાખ્યાન છે. દિવસ અને રાત્રીએ અન્ન-પાણીને લગતાં અમૂક નિયમો અને નિષેધ પચ્ચકખાણ કહેવાય. સૂર્યોદયથી બે ઘડી સુધી બધા આહારને ત્યાગ નવકારશી કહેવાય. સૂર્યાસ્ત પહેલાં શરૂ કરીને આખી વાત સર્વ આહાર-પાણીને ત્યાગ તે ચવહાર (ચવીઆર) કહેવાય. પાણી સિવાય બીજી વસ્તુઓનો ત્યાગ તિવિહાર કહેવાય.

વ્યાપાર-વ્યવહારને ત્યાગ કરીને ધ્યાનમાં લીન બનવું - જાણે કે શરીરને થોડી વાર - માટે ત્યાગ કરવો - તેનું નામ કાઉસગ્ગ.

SAMAYIKA: There are many types of Samayika but one which is commonly obsrved consists of sitting for about an hour in a quiet place, meditating, chanting a few verses with a little bit of ritual and obtaining a state of equanimity. The Samayika Sutra or book of Samayika consists of ten passages In Samayika one achieves a state of "Separateness" and thereore it is helpful for peace and purification of mind.
PRATIKRAMAN: This is a sitting of a longer period consisting of reviewing, confession and repentance of past and present actions and thoughts.
PRATYAKHYAN or PACHCHAKHAN: observing certain determinations and control for a given time.
KAYOTSTRGA or KAUSAGGA: A layman or a monk relinquishes all feelings of attachment with the body and ob tains a state of meditation.
