BAHUBALI
On top of a hill at Shravan Belagola in South India, there stands a giant statue of Lord Bahubali. This image is 57 feet high and is carved from the bedrock of the hill. Bahubali, the son of the first Tirthankar, Rushabhdev, became a monk and chose the path of renunciation instead of fighting his own brother and killing people in the battlefield.
There is now a Digambar Muth (headquarters for Digambar sect) at Shravan Belagola and a big ceremony took place in 1981 to commemorate the 1000th anniversary of the creation of this giant statue of Lord Bahubali.

બાહુબલી
દક્ષિણ ભારતમાં શ્રવણ બેલ્ગોલામાં એક નાનકડા ડુંગરા પર બાહુબલીની ૫૭ ફૂટની વિશાળ કાય - ભવ્ય દીગંબર મૂર્તિ છે. બાહુબલી અને ભરત બંને પ્રથમ તીર્થકર ઋષભદેવનાં પુત્રા હતાં. બાહુબલી અને ભરત વચ્ચે યુદ્ધ થયું . બાહુબલી બળવાન હતાં પરંતુ તેમને સંસારની અસારતા સમજાણી અને દીક્ષા લીધી.

આ પ્રતિમા ગ્રેનાઈટના એક જ પથ્થરમાંથી પ્રેરાયેલી છે. આવી વિશાળકાય પ્રતિમા કોતરવી તે અદ્ભૂત સિદ્ધિ છે. શ્રવણબેલ્ગાલામાં અત્યારે દીગંબર મઠ છે: બાહુબલીજીની પ્રતિમાનાં ૧૦૦૦ વર્ષની મંગળ ઉજવણી રૂપ મહામસ્તકાભિષેક વિધિ ૧૯૮૧માં ઉજવવામાં આવી હતી.
