The Com. on उवासगदसाओ explains the expression as आर्तस्य ध्यानविशेषस्य यो दुहट्टो दुःस्थगः दुनिरोधो चशः पारतन्यं तेनातः; अथवा आर्तेन दुःखार्तः आर्तदुःखार्तः, तथा वशेन विषयपारतन्त्र्येण ऋतः परिगतः वशातः, ततः कर्मधारयः, i. e. miserable and unhappy. अडाइज्वाइं वाससयाई परमाउयं पालइत्ता, having enjoyed long life of two hundred and ifty years. रयणप्पभा पुढवी is the first of soven hells of the Jains. These hells, according to their cosmology, are seven in number and located below our earth, one below the other, and are called रत्नप्रभा, शकेराप्रभा, वालुकाप्रभा, पङ्कप्रभा, धूमप्रभा, तमःप्रभा and महातमःप्रभा. Each of these नरकभूमिs have several smaller sub-divisions. 24. अणिट्ठा अकन्ता etc. are synonyms meaning unpleasant, unwelcome, undesirable. 26. पुव्वरत्तावरत्तकालसमयसि कुडुम्बजागरियाए जागरमाणीए, when queen fricafi was keeping awake (i. o., could not sleep) on account of family anxieties (such as neglect from her husband ) in the earlier part (पुव्वरत्त) and later part (अवरत्त-अपररात्र) of the night. अज्झथिए जाव समुप्पजित्था,a thought (अज्झत्थिय) occurred to her. निच्छइ, न + इच्छति etc. does not desire even to mention my name, much less (किमङ्ग पुण) visits and company. असयंवसा, not being her own mistress, i. e., being unable. 27. The peculiar feattures of the physiognomy of the boy are given here.
