માટે છે નહિ આતમાં, મિથ્યા મોક્ષ ઉપાય; એ અંતર શંકા તણો, સમજાવો સદુપાય. ૪૮
Maate chhe nahi aatmaa, mithyaa moksha upaay;
E antar shankaa tano, samajaavo sadupaay.
And so the atma does not exist, and thus any attempt at Moksha is in vain.
Please help me to correctly resolve this inner doubt of mine. (48)
૧. સમાધાન - સદ્ગુરુ ઉવાચ Samaadhaan - Sadguru Uvaach
The Guru's Resolution
(આત્મા છે, એમ સદ્ગુરુ સમાધાન કરે છે:-) Aatmaa chhe, em sadguru samaadhaan kare chhe:
The soul exists, so resolves the True Guru:
ભાસ્યો દેહાધ્યાસથી, આત્મા દેહ સમાન; પણ તે બન્ને ભિન્ન છે, પ્રગટ લક્ષણે ભાન. ૪૯
Bhaasyo dehaadhyaasthee, aatmaa deha samaan; Pan te banne bhinna chhe, pragat lakshane bhaan.
We have mistakenly considered the atma to be one with the body. But they are both distinct, as is evident from their manifest characteristics. (49)
ભાસ્યો દેહાધ્યાસથી, આત્મા દેહ સમાન; પણ તે બન્ને ભિન્ન છે, જેમ અસિ ને મ્યાન. ૫૦
Bhaasyo dehaadhyaasthee, aatmaa deha samaan;
Pan te banne bhinna chhe, jem asi ne myaan.
We have mistakenly considered the atma to be one with the body.
But they are as distinct as a sword from its sheath. (50)
