गुणहिं न संपय = iv. 335. कान्तः यत् सिंहेन उपमीयते तन्मम खण्डितः मानः ।
सिंहः नीरक्षकान् गजान् हन्ति प्रियः पदरक्षेः समम् ॥ "It puts down my pride (I am ashamed to see) that my lover is compared to a lion; for a lion kills elephants without watchman, while my lover kills them with watch
men."
चञ्चलं जीवितं ध्रुवं मरणं प्रिय रुष्यते कथम् ।
भविष्यन्ति दिवसा रोषयुक्ताः (रूसणा) दिव्यानि वर्षशतानि ॥ " Life is fickle ; death is certain ; my lover, how can one afford to be angry? For days on which one is angry, will appear ( long like ) hundred years of gods."
म धणि करहि विसाउ = 1V. 385. माने प्रनष्टे यदि न तनुः तत् देशः त्यज्यते ।
मा दुर्जनकरपल्लवैः दीम नः भ्रमेः ॥ ___“ When respect is lost, the pravince:should be abandoned, if not the body; you should not however wander in that country when being pointed out by the fingers of wicked persons."
लवणं विलीयते पानीयेन अरे खल मेघ मा गर्ज।
ज्वालितं गलति तत्कुटोरकं गोरी तिम्यति अद्य ॥ " Salt (beauty ) is melted by water ; O wicked cloud, do not thunder; for the hut which is burnt, would trinkle and the lady inside may get wet today.”
विभवे प्रनष्टे वक्रः ऋद्वौ जनसामान्यः ।
किमपि मनाक् मम प्रियस्य शशी अनुहरति नान्यः ॥ “The moon and none else imitates a little of my lover as he (the moon ) is crooked (crescent ) while in adversily and normal ( ordinary = JAHTATTY: in prosperity." 419. किल न खादति न पिबति न विद्रवति धर्मे न व्ययति रूपकम् ।
इह कृपणो न जानाति यथा यमस्य क्षगेन दूतः प्रभवति ॥ “The miser neither eats por drinks nor does he spend : 2 rupee in pious gifts; he does not know that the messenger of Death would overcome him in a moment.”
