________________ NOTES-III. iv. 427-431. 67 "Keep under control the sense organ called tongue which is the head and under which all others live; when the root of तुम्बिनी ( दुध्या भोपळा in Marathi ) is completely killed, the leaves will certainly dry up.” अवस न सुअहिं सुअच्छिअहिं = iv 386. 428. एकशः शीलकलङ्कितानां दीयन्ते प्रायश्चित्तानि । ___ यः पुनः खण्डयति अनुदिवसं तस्य प्रायश्चित्तेन किम् ॥ " Atonements can be prescribed for those whose character is spoiled only once; what is the use of expiation for him who spoils his character (breaks his promise) every day?” 429. विरहानलज्वालाकरालितः पथिकः पथि यद् दृष्टः । ___ तद् मिलित्वा सर्वैः पथिकैः स एव कृतः अग्निष्टः ॥ " When a traveller was seen on the way as surrounded by flames of the fire of separation, all other travellers gathered and consigned him to fire ( as he was dead )." महु कन्तहो बे दोसडा = iv. 379. एक कुडुल्ली पचहिं रुद्धी = iv. 422. 14. 430. फोडेन्ति जे हिअडउ = iv. 350. चकुल्ल उ चुणीहोइमइ = iv. 395. स्वामिप्रसाद सलज्ज प्रियं सीमासधौ वासम् । प्रेक्ष्य बाहुबल धन्या मुञ्चति निश्वासम् ॥ " The happy one ( fair maid ) breathes a heavy sigh on seeing the favour of the master ( to her lover ), a bashful lover, a residence on the frontier and the strength of the arm ( of the lover )." 431. पथिक दृष्टा गौरी ? दृष्टा मार्गमवलोकयन्ती। ____ अश्रूच्छ्रासैः कञ्चुक तिमितोद्वानं (आर्द्रशुष्कं ) कुर्वती ॥ One traveller is asking another about his beloved: “O traveller, did you see my beloved, the fair maid? (The other replies ), Yes I saw her looking to your path and making her 459€, bodice, wet by tears and dry by hot breaths."
