________________ PREFACE Dohanaluda represents tlo samo variety of Ana. bliraisa as is found in Sivayadhammadona already issued as the second volume of this series, and which is oxactly the Inngunge so well expinined and exemplified liy Hemacandra in his Prakrit grammir. It is highly interesting, in this connection, to note that four vorses quoled by Homacandra occur almost vorlatim in the presont work. We are thus slowly tracing tho versos quoto:1 in that epoch-making grainmaz back to thoir original sources, as moro and moro literature of this kind is coming to light. The subject-mnttor of the work is Join mysticism and in this respect, as well as in the form of its pootry, it has similarities with the Buddhist Caryupadas of Krishna, Dombi, Vivi, Sarahn nail Gundari, and tho Dohakoshas of Sarala and Kanhupada. With thoso works it has many aymbolistic torms in common such as Ravi, Shashi, Vama, Dukshina, Shiva and Shakti.
