________________ श्री राष्ट्रसंत शिरोमणि अभिनंदन ग्रंथ Vayukayas and Vanaspatikayas have life in them. Explaining this truth based on the experiments of one sense beings 'Panchastikayas' and other scriptures say that the life that exists in side the egg-shells can be compared to human life in the form of inconsious existence. And therefore these are sense-beings do almost all similar actions which unconsious living human beings do as long as they are alive. Author of the 'Rajvartika' says that the plants vegetables have sense of congnizence in them, this can be assumed on the basis of the fact that they grow when they get nourishment and they wither away when they are deprived of the nourishment. Further clarifying this idea it is said in Syadvad-Manjari that the inamimate stones found on the earth are living organisms because just as the grass grows again after it is cut. Similarly the stones also re-appear after they are dug out. The water too has life. The same applies to the water not only on the earth but also applies to the water in the sky as well. The same truth also applies to the fire and air and all the vegetables and plants on this earth. It is therefore that omnicient Almighty God has said that earth and other phenomena have life in them. In this way the definition given by the scripters and features displayed by the earth and other fine types of 'Sthavar-Jiva' prove that they have one sense and are therefore 'Ekendriya beings. Though they cannot act and react like human beings who have fine senses. Nevertheless they too are capable of experiencing the feelings of happiness or otherwise. But are unable to express those feelings. Experiments have also proved that if the plants were planted by different persons having good or bad personalities the growth of the plants varied accordingly. Similarly if the plants are watered with affection or are watered with hatered there is a lot of difference in their growth. One such experience also revealed that when sweet music was played before one plant it grew rapidly. All these experiments support the view that all the 'Ekendriya Sthavar Jivas' naturally have life in them but are also capable of experiencing the feelings of happiness or unhappiness. 'Live and let other live' is an important basic principle of Jainism. Jain philosophy in the 'Tatvarth Sutra' Umasuami has confired that principle the principle and the 'Sutra' are both a symbol of tolerance and cooperation between all the living beings in this world. We all know that every one of us loves ones own life. Even a little pain upsets us a slightest pain - physical, psychological caused by other fills us with emotions of revenge towards them. Under such circumstances why do not we think of the fact that other living beings ranging from Ekendriya to Panchendriya must also be feeling the same way. Just as we live happy in our own way similarly each living being in this world would also wish to live in its own way. But the only difference is that we think and believe that it is the life of the human beings which is most important compared to the life of all other beings. For the sake of our happiness we leave hurt others and even destroyed them. Other animals have not been able to do so. Considering their helpless condition and appreciating their silent suffering if we become sinsitive to their slight we would certainly be able to understand that other beings also feel and experience all the emotions just as we do. If we are blessed with focusty of thinking, we should employ it for making every living being happy on this earth because they too have a fundamental right to exist on this earth. To create such a situation in the world we shall have to develop the feelings of pity, mercy, affection and for giveness. If we examine all these emotions or feelings हेमेन्द्र ज्योति * हेमेन्द्र ज्योति 134हेमेन्द्र ज्योति* हेमेन्द्र ज्योति
