Chapter 2
JEEV THE SENTIENT ELEMENT
Seven Tattvas (fundamentals) mentioned in the first chapter are dealt with in the remaining chapters. The description of Jeev (Soul) starts from this chapter and will continue in the third and the fourth. This chapter has 52 sutras, which describe the different categories of living beings, their modes, sense organs, objects of senses, types of bodies, life span etc.
औपशमिक क्षायिकौ भावौ मिश्रश्च जीवस्य स्वतत्त्वमौदयिकपारिणामिकौ च ॥२- १॥
द्विनवाष्टादशैकविंशतित्रिभेदा यथाक्रमम् ॥२-२॥
सम्यक्त्वचारित्रे ॥२-३॥
ज्ञानदर्शनदानलाभभोगोपभोगवीर्याणि च ॥२-४॥
ज्ञानाज्ञानदर्शनदानादिलब्धयश्चतुस्त्रित्रिपंचभेदाः यथाक्रमंसम्यक्त्व
चारित्र - संयमासंयमाश्च ॥२-५॥
गतिकषायलिङ्गमिथ्यादर्शनाज्ञानासंयतासिद्धत्वलेश्याश्चतुश्चतुस्त्रयेकै
कैकैकषड्भेदाः ॥२-६॥ जीवभव्याभव्यत्वादीनि च ॥२- ७॥
