To get success in one's own duty lies in conducting the vow with full responsibility. By assuming Digvrata, a householder, who just confines his activities to a limited extent, does achieve the observance of Ahimsa, by renouncing all violence, possible in the vast space beyond, the limit under the vow of Digvrata. There remains only such initial activities, which are within the specific limits. Now how can a man save himself from
sins. going to occur in doing activities in specific limits ? Now for this let us study the following verse :
अभ्यन्तरं दिगवधेरपार्थिकेभ्यः सपाप-योगेभ्यः । विरमण-मनर्थ-दण्डवतं विदुर्वतधरा-ग्रण्यः ॥७४॥

The best of ascetics call, refraining from wanton (purposeless) activity, likely to cause injury to others, with in the limits (fixed for one's activity) is Anarthadanda Vrata. Description :
This vrata involves taking a vow not to commit purposeless sins. Generally a man performs all his activities concerning to his livelihood, very carefully though hinderances do come in the lives of other living beings who are living on this earth. Then only he is able to cross his own way of life but sometimes, it so happens that unrelated at all with other living beings, they prove to be a problem and a hinderance in our smooth functionens due to our own laziness, joking behaviour and irresponsible dealings. Such happenings are known as Anarthadanda Vrata.
Great learned persons have advised us not to perform all such activities which may cause purposeless sins or hurdles in the way of livelihood of other creatures. Such purpossless acticity has been divided into five kind of Anarthadanda vrata
