This induction is sometimes further fortified and safe. guarded by making a negative observation; i.C., by observing that where there is no fire, there is no smoke, as in a tank, or rather by observing that where fire is impossible, there smoke is never found. The first two propositions are said to be sufficient for the intelligent and the knowing.
