________________ Toronto, ON Jain society of Toronto, Canada celebrated Dashalaxan Paryushan parva with daily pravachans by Gurdev Chitrabhanu on various facets of Jain philosophy and principles. Samvatsari pratikraman, day of forgiveness and fasting by many members were some of the highlights of the parva. Gurdev Chitrabhanu's lectures on practical aspects of Jain Religion, vegetarianism and Kalpasutra were well attended. Pratikraman, in which a large number took part, was conducted by Gurdev Chitrabhanu. On the final day, the virtue of forgiveness was observed. Buena Park, CA. Jain center of southern California celebrated Dashalaxan Paryushan 1988 on a grand scale, beginning Thursday September 8 through 17. Dr Kumarpal Desai from Ahmedabad, India, was the chief guest. He delivered pravachans throughout the parva. Indu Dhanak was on hand to delight the audience on Sept. 9 and 10 with her enchanting Jain devotionals. Pratikraman, aarati and mangal divo were performed everyday during the festivity. Panchakalyan pooja was performed on Sept. 10. The highlights on Sept. 11 were conception of Lord Mahavir,dreams ceremony and cultural presentations by the children. Samvatsari was observed on the 15th. The festivities came to a conclusion on 17th with virtue of forgiveness and parana. Chicago, IL. Jain society of Chicago organised Dashalaxan Paryushan festivities for its members at Dempster center, 420 west, Dempster Ave, Mt. Pleasant, from Sept. 8 through 15. Gurdev Chitrabhanu was the chief guest for the first four days. Besides daily religious and cultural activities, Snatra pooja, conception of Lord Mahavir and dreams ceremony were organised on Sept. 10. And on the concluding day, Samvatsari pratikraman was performed. San Jose, CA. The 200 plus Jain families of San Francisco area celebrated Dashalaxan Paryushan Parva from Sept. 8 to 16. The Jain center of northern California organised the festivities at various locations in the bay area for eight days with prayers and devotional songs performed every evenings. On Sunday, Sept. 11, dreams of queen Trishala, mother of Lord Mahavir, were reenacted by means of insignia, and Miss Indu Dhanak from India gave a musical delight. Samvatsari pratikraman was performed on Sept. 16 to conclude the Parva Essex Falls. Jain center of New Jersey organised Dashalaxan Paryushan from Sept. 8 to 15 at its Chaityalaya, 233 Runnymede Road, Essex Falls, NJ 07021. Kiranbhai from Gujrat, India, the chief guest, delivered a series of Jain lectures during the parva. The topics were: Significance of Dashalaxan Paryushan, Six steps to Realisation, Why Jain Religion?, Spiritual energy of Namokkar Mantra, Conscious, Way to live life, Destiny and Freewill and Miracles of Forgiveness. Snatra pooja in the morning and Pratikraman in the evening were daily performed. Buffalo, Ny. Jain community of Buffalo celebrated Dashalaxan Paryushan festivities on September 10 and 24,1988. Dream ceremonies of Trishala, the mother of Lord Mahavir, were enacted with insignia. The significance of each insigia was explained to the audience by an youngster while names were drawn to conduct the pooja performance of each insignia. There were prayers and devotional songs. A large number of Jains from Toronto attended the festivity. Volunteer prepared dinner was served to over 300 people.
