The benevolent Babu Devendra Kumar Jain, who bequeathed his largess for the establishment of Jain Research Publication Library at Siddhant Bhavan in Arrah, Bihar, was a visionary of his times. Sri Devendra Kumar Jain Ancient Granthagar has recently brought out an outstanding publication, Bibliographica Jainica, a hardbound 600 pager. Bibligraphica Jainica contains references and descriptions to 3000 ancient and rare Jain books housed in Jain Siddhant Bhavan. It is prepared by Dr Gokulchand Jain and Nasim Arantar under the editorship of Rishabchand Jain Fauj dar. "Pictorial Jain Ramayan" is another publication released by the Bhavan. Muni Kesharaj's Rama Yasho Rasayan has been adopted in this beautiful multitone and multicoloured production. This has been authored by Dr Jyoti Prasad Jain, Dr Anand Krishna and Ajay Kumar Jain. The young and vibrant activist of vegetarianism and Ahimsa in Germany, Mr Marks Mossner recently revisted India to understand and witness the doctrines and values of Jain Religion in its Home. One of the stops: Sravanabelagola in southern India. He had an opportunity to call upon Sri Charukirti Bhattarak, the Pontif, and had exchange of views on Jain philosophy and principles. Mr Mossner was felicitated by the Bhattarak during the gala function organised to honour him on his tireless mission to propogate Jaina Darshan in Germany. Dr S.S.Jhaveri, Hon General Secretary of Akhil Bharatiya Hinsa Nirvan Sangh, 32 Manish Society, Naranpur, Ahmedadbad, recently released information to the Press on the activities of the Sangh. It was reported that Sangh has branches all over India and the Institute strives to protect aminals from slaughtering and provide shelter. During the drought of 1987-88 in Gujrat and Rajasthan, free fodder camps were established for nine months at a capital outlay of Rs 900,000 to maintain 22,000 cattles. In its animal liberation wing, about 14,150 cattles were saved from illegal slaughter.
