________________ DASHALAXAN PARYUSHAN IN KOBE JAPAN Kobe, Japan. The Japan Jain Sangh organised Dashalaxan Paryushan Parva 1988 from September 8 through 16, 1988. The main programs during the festivities were Pravachans, Pratikraman and the grand scale function of Lord Mahavir's Conception. There were many members who went on fasting and there was Parana arranged for the break of the fast. On the day, a delicious dinner was served to the gathering. Ms SURABHI SHAH IN CHINA ON STUDENT EXCHANGE PROGRAM Nanjing, China. Saurabhi Shah, an Engineering student at Waterloo University, Ontario, Canada has gone to China on Ontario Jiangus exchange to assist on an Environmental study project, EDGE Detection Techniques. Surabhi is spending four months at Nanjiing Institute of Technology on the project. Miss Shah is a third year Enginnering student at Waterloo and this EDGE Detection Techniques assistance project is also an undertaking for her research program. Surabhi Shah is the daughter of Dr Kirti Shah, Professor of Statistics at Waterloo and a past President of Jain Society of Toronto, and mrs Devindra Shah of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada. DEVELOPMENT OF JAIN SHRINES IN NEPAL A PLAN HAS BEEN LAUNCHED - Katmandu, Nepal. The recent history of Jain Religion and its followers in Nepal, attested and documented by events, records and establishment of Chaityalaya, the Prakrit word for place of worship of Jains, is hundred years and more. The historical past is that Jain Religion was quite widely prevalent In Nepal. Lord Mallinath, the eighteenth Tirthankara and Lord Neminath, the twenty second Tirthankara, it has been said and argued by scholars, were born in Janakapuri (Mithilanagari), Nepal.
