________________ KUNDA KUNDA GNANA CHAKRA VIHAR IN GUJRAT 2000th ANNIVERSARY OF SAINT KUNDA KUNDA Ahmedabad, GR. Saint Kunda Kunda, author of many great philosophical Jain works- Panchastikaya, Niyamasara, Barasu Anuvekka, was one of the most prominent sage scholars of Jain Religion during the early years of Vir Samvat 501. V.S. at Kunda Kunda was born on Sunday, 5 February 501 Kondekonda, 4 miles from modern Guntkal in Andhra Pradesh. To espouse and popularise Jain philosophy and principles through the great works of Saint Kunda Kunda, the All India Jain Youth Federation organised Kunda Kunda Gnana Chakra Vihar in Gujrat State to coincide with the commomeration of 2000th Anniversary of the great sage. A total of 51 days vihar, of the Chakra, was held throughout Gujrat. During the period, lectures by scholars were organised, audio video cassettes and books were made availble to thousands on the significance and importance of Kunda Kundas writings and their contents. DASHALAXAN PARYUSHAN IN NAIROBI KENYA Nairobi, Kenya. The Jain community of Nairobi organised Dashalaxan Paryushan Parva from September 8 through 18, 1988. Pujyashri Mrigendra Vijay was specially invited by the Jain Sangh to deliver Pravachans,a Jain lexicon that refers to Jain Dharma lectures by knowledgeable sages and scholars, throughout the festivities. The festivity was marked by pooja performings, cultural and spiritual events. There were more than 40 people, men and women, underwent fasting during the event. ACHARYA SAMANTABHADRA PASSED AWAY FOUNDER OF BAHUBALI JAIN SHRINE MAHARASHTRA Bahbali, MR. Acharya Samantabhadra, founder and the soul and spiritual institution of Bahubali Jain Shrine, 16 miles from Kolhapur city in Maharashtra, is no more. Acharya passed away on 18 August 1988 at the age of 98. Acharya Samantabhadra was born in an aristocratic family on 19 December 1891, went to Bombay University and graduated in 1918. As bachelor, he joined Jain Muni sangh about 50 years ago and did penance in the present town of Bahubali for many long years. Sri Samantbhadra was an illustrious Jain Saint, a social activist, a reformer and an educationist. He dedicated his life for the development of Jain Religion in the current context. His vision advanced social and moral development with remarkable achievements.
