On September 18th, Samvatsari pratikraman was held at three places: San Jose, Sunnyvale and Freemont, to facilitate Jain families in the area to participate in the festivities. 19. Detroit, Michigan. Jain Center of Greater Detroit celebrated the festivities from September 11There was daily Bhavana and arti during the period. Dr. Ratan Jain, a modern thinker and an author from Nagpur, India, was the chief guest on September 11-12. Dr. Jain delivered discourses about the importance of Paryushan and its prominence in the Jain Shravaka tradition. Panch Kalyan pooja was held at Northwest Unitarian Church on September 14th. This was sponsored by Mahendra and Saroj Shah, Pankaj and Meena Shah, and Narendra and Damini Shah. A big audience at the auspicious function attributed its success to the spiritual and moral perseverance of the community members. The biggest event of the fesitivities, Swapna Darshan, was celebrated on the 15th at Bharatiya Temple in Troy. Celebrations were started with a welcome speech from Mr. Suresh Shah, the President of Detroit Jain Center. Mr. Arvin Shah of Saginaw gave a talk on Swapna Darshan. The children choir led the audience with Namokar Mantra. The auctioning of various items of Swapna brought in approximately $13,000.00 contributions. Mr. Sharad Shah, Vice-President, was in charge of on site management. A large gathering of over 350 people took part in the celebrations.
