FORE WORD If affords me immense pleasure to lay the critical edition of the Dharmabinduprakarana of Ācārya Haribhadrasüri with the commentary of Municandrasuri on it by the grace of Almighty Supreme Lord Arihanta Paramātmā and my revered Gurudeva and father Muniraja Sri. Bhuvanavijayaji Mahārāja before the people who are interested to know the real nature of true religion. The author of the Dharmabinduprakarna is Ācārya Haribhadrasuri who is well known as the religious son of Yakini Mahattarā a jain nun. This Haribhadrasuri flourished in the sixth century of Vikrama era according to the tradition. But research scholars believe that he flourished in the 8th century of Vikrama era.
He was a very great scholar. He composed an immensely big number of works on many topics. The number of his works was 1400 or 1444 according to others.
The author of the commentary is Acarya Manicandrasuri who flourished in th 12th century of Vikrama era. He expired in the year 1178 of Vikrama Samvat in Anahilpura Pattana in North Gujarāt. He was a great scholar and commented on many works of Haribhadrasuri. He was the guru of the well known Acārya Devasuri the author of the Pamāṇanayatattvāloka with the commentary Syādvādaratnākara.
The Dharmabindu throws considerable light on the different aspects of true religion. Hence it holds unique position, not only in the jain literature but in the Indian literature also, dealing with the nature of true religion. It was published nearly a century ago. Since that many other editions have also appeared. This present edition is based on six palm-left Mss. written approximately in th 13th century A.D. as follows:
