Remarks--Mention is made of works such as Sruti, Smrti, Pratisakhya and of authors, Saunaka, Yaska etc., in this work. In the matter of explaining the mantras the author follows Skandasvamin. Though there is evidence to show towards the end of the work that it was composed by Haradatta, the last verse in the 1st chapter: आश्वलायनगृह्योक्तपाकयज्ञेषु कर्मसु / मन्त्रा ये विनियुक्तास्ते व्याख्याताश्चक्रपाणिना।। ascribes its composition to Cakrapani. The Sloka in the beginning of this work: आश्वलायनगृह्योक्तपाकयज्ञेषु कर्मसु / मन्त्राणां विनियुक्तानां व्याख्यानं क्रियतेऽधुना // and the one at the end of the 1st chapter have some resemblance.
