I do not know how to express all that I wish to say 1 on this subject, because there are innumerable occult powers existing in the universe requiring satisfactory explanation. The growth of a tree from a seed is an occult phenomenon. We do not know how the tree can come out of a small seed, but we see it every day, and therefore it is not wonderful to us ; but suppose a person had never seen any such thing; if he observed the growth of a plant it would appear very miraculous to him. We in our ordinary experience have not come across many wonderful phenomena, and therefore do not know how to explain them. We have not all passed through the conditions, the course of discipline, which are the cause of these phenomena, and therefore they are a surprise to us. But the one phenomenon is really as wonderful as the other. I shall explain some of them, and in order to understand them satisfactorily it is necessary that the principles be understood. The basis of all these facts, is first in the connection of the laws of matter with the laws of mentality and then with the laws of morality and of the spiritual nature. If we can understand these things we can understand any phenomena. There are many forces in the material world, as heat, light, electricity, and magnetism, and all these have wonderful powers.
