Yoga ard Sāmadhi are convertible terms, both meaning Vritti-nirodha or suspension of the transformations of the thinking principle. With this introduction we will enter into the details of this pbilosopby. We have defined Yoga to be the suppression of the transformations of the thinhing pripciçle. What is this thinking principle and what are its transformations and wbat results are achieved by the practice of Yoga. The thinking principle is a comprebensive expression equal to the Sanskrit word Antah-Karana which is divided into four partsManas, mind the principle which cognizes generally, Chittā, individualizing, the idea which fixes itself upon 1 point and trakes the object its own by making it an individuals; Ahankāra, Egotism, treffersuation which connects the individual with the self, and Buddhi, reason, the light that determines one way or the other. Knowledge or perception is a kind of transformation, Parināma of the thicking fricciple into anything which is the subject of external or internal piesentation through cne or other of these cur. Al krowledge is of the kind of transfoinations of the thinking principle. Even the will wbich is the very first essential of Yoga is a kind of such trarstormation.
