________________ 90 OCCULT POWERS obiect is required to be sent from one place to another, it will take a certain amount of force, which wil generate heat, and if the velocity is increased, then on account of the increase of that velocity there will be a rise in the temperature of that body. That is all right so far as the physical laws are concerned, and if the physical force is used a large amount of heat would be the sesult. But what about a moral force ? That writer says that under all conditions if a physical object is to be seat from one place to another, you cannot do it without generating heat. But this is only the force on the physical plane; but if a moral force is used you can send a thing trom one place to another without generating any heat. A person using a inoral force spends so much force and is a loser to that extent; but if by doing any good on the moral pla de he day benefit another person, although he may be losing something so far as the physical force is concerned, the very act adds something to his soulnature; therefore in the loss of our lower nature we gain in the higher nature, and the gain in the higher nature sets off every loss of the lower nature, and the lower must sink deeper and deeper in order that the higher may rise. This is really the way to the occult powers; they do not depend on physical laws. It may be urged that the persons who have produced these wouderful phenomena, are not always moral.
