Nand. reads duck.' explains by medah. The Kîrîvâka, 'a cricket,' may Kakravâka, 'a Brâhmanî 64. Yâgn. III, 215; Vi. XLIV, 25-30. Regarding Vâgguda, 'the flying-fox,' see note on Gaut. XVII, 34. Râgh. confirms the explanation given there, as he says that it is a bird flying at night. Medh. and Nand. seem to have had a different reading at the end of the verse.
