The Tattvānus'āsana in view of its valuable exposition of Dhyāna deserved a deep study and through explanation of its contents in the light of corelated works. Panditaji has given us here a systematic translation of the text. Every verse, in addition, is accompanied by what he calls Vyakhyā in which the specialitics of its contents are explained in a thorough and Icarned manner. To substantiate his exposition, Panditaji has given in its footnotes helpful quotations in many places. In fine his Vyākhyā is a deep study of a number of topics connected with this text. It deserve to be studied with parti. cular care by all those who are interested in the Dhyānas'astra, elaborated in the back-ground of Jaina idealogy. Though Rāmasena's work was neglected for a long time, it found at last a worthy interpreter in Pt. Jugalkıshoreji whose study of this work extends over a number of years and is completed at his ripe age of cightyfive. Pandıtaji has added a lengthy Introduction which is divided into ten sections and is full of details. In the First, it is pointed out that the name of the work is Dhyānasāstra or Dhyānagrantha, besides the Tattvānusāsanam. In the Second, the various Mss. are described. Sections Three to Five are devoted to the author's name, individuality and date. Section Six discussed about the Teachers of the author. Section Seven gleans from traditional sources some details about Rāmasena Section Eight presents a'runing summary of the Tattvānusasana, Section Nine takes a critical review of the carlier editions and translations.
