minutely. Deliberations held with Buddhist logicians by other systems created a path to the development of this concept, as with many other philosophical tenets in the panorama of Indian Philosophy.
By establishing the concept of nirvikalpatā Buddhist logicians inspired other philosophers to think about and accept the notion in their philosophical deliberations. The Mīmāņsaka and Nyāya-Vaisişika philosophers were obviously influenced by Dignāga and Dharmakīrti, but Jaina philosophers do not seem to have been influenced in any significant respect, most probably because of their notion of darśana which is defined as nirākāra and nirvikalpaka.'' Although the seeds of the notion of . nirvikalpatā were available in the Yogasūrta, Jaina canons,
Nyāyasūtra and Praśastapādabhāşya, the evolution making a clear-cut distinction between determinate and indeterminate knowledge was pioneered by Buddhist logicians.
