9. NIRJARA BHAVNA
9.1 श्लोक

यन्निर्जरा द्वादशधा निरुक्ता,
तद्द्वादशानां तपसां विभेदात् ।
हेतु प्रभेदादिह कार्यभेदः स्वातंत्र्यतस्त्वेकविधैव सा स्यात् ||१||
9.1.1 12 types of austerities define the 12 forms of nirjara. Nirjara has different categories; however, when seen independently nirjara is just one.
काष्ठोपलादिरूपाणां निदानानां विभेदतः ।
वह्निर्यथैकरूपोऽपि पृथग्रूपो विवक्ष्यते ||२||
9.1.2 Fire is of one type only; however, due to different sources like wood, coal, etc. it is known and identified as different forms.
निर्जरापि द्वादशधा तपोभेदैस्तथोदिता । कर्मनिर्जरणात्मा तु सैकरूपैव वस्तुतः ||३||
9.1.3_Similarly, nirjara is of 12 types due to 12 types of austerities. But from the perspective of shedding karmas, it is of one type only.
