Land, Ocean, Rain, Climate, Forests, Trees, Minerals, Cattle or Livestock. The bulk of such means is large and extensive, indeed. However, the same must be utilized with great restraint, as is mentioned in the Ryveda. Utillization (Consumption) : In the Modern Economics, we undertake a study in respect of our requirements. Yajñam for example, symbolizing the worship of the God of Fire, lies at the centre of our fundamental desires and their fulfilment. As stated in the Rgveda, "...Desires should not be such nature as would prompt us to commit wicked and sinful deeds (for their fulfilment)". In the Rgveda, adequate importance has added to the concept of maximum utilization of means (for fulfilment of our common desires). While examining our present socio-economic situation, it appears distinctly that hither to we have ignored this fact altogather. Production : Modern Economics undertake the discussion of production, or say, Mass Production. In the Rgveda, on the other hand, there is an ample discussion in connection with agricultural products, besides a neticulous description of various kinds of corn and their types. It is also stated in the Rgveda that, by vitrue of various handicrafts vitally useful to society, there will be mass production of essential commodities, such as : cloth, wool, dwelling, Soma-Rasa' (Nector) Ghee, Milk etc. in a great bulk, and ultimately this will bring about wel fare of the mankind. Bartar (Exchange) : The present system of Economics is mainly dependent of Financial Foothold. But in the Vedic times, there was a system known as 'Barter system' Prevalent among human beings. People were used to exchange various articles or commodities mutually depending upon their needs and the utility value of respective articles. Distribution: A number of allusions are available in the Rgveda about employing a servant in the context of household... services, such persons who had lost their properties used to earn their livelihood by serving in the mansions or on the farms of wealthy persons. Taxation : There is an indication of Taxation, too, in the Rgveda, which topic is currently being studied extensively today in Modern Economics. There exists a clear command or mandate that all persons should pay taxes to the king.
