The above table is self-explanatory except for the appearance of certain technical terms and statistical units. The Srivatsa, the emblem of the tenth Tîrthankara, is a curl of hair on the breast, well known as a mark of Vishnu too. The Nandyavarta, the symbol of the eighteenth Tîrthankara, is a mark resembling a swastika. 14 As used by the Jains, the units of number and measure, including also a few appearing elsewhere in the present chapter, are as follows.
