Merit That Multiplies A bania nemed Abhad was, once, living at Patan, He was alone and maintained himself by working at vessel-merchants shop. He would scrap and mould the vessel for daylong hours and would get five twentypaise coins for his job.
Though poor, Abhad was religious to the core and in presence of shir Hemachandrasurishi ar, would attend the religious ceremonies 'Pratikaman' regularly.
· Abhad was clever and had studied books on jewellery, Baudhisin Agatsyamat etc. with the help and under guidance of experienced jewellers he had become adopt at testing the diamonds.
Abhad decided to take the oath of 'Aparigrah' from Hemchandrasuriji and resolved to k ep some wealth to himself, Acharya Hemchandra, physiognamist as he was, administered him the oath and asked not to keep more than three lac 'drams'
Once he was going to a nearby village & saw a flock of goats. One of the goats ha a stone suspended at the neck. It was a real gem. He purchased the goat; and after grinding it sold it for one lack drums to be used eventually for the crown of Siddhraj. Once again he purchesed begs of 'majid'. The shipping merchants from whom he bought these had, for fear of pirates on high seas, filled them with go den bars Abhad had the windfall and luck smiling on him.
In Patan, Abhad became favourite of Siddhraj and became a leading 'Shrawak' of jain religio . He was very generous donar too. He erected many temples. Reconstructed many but concealed his identity.
Like the tree covered with creepers and the seed covered by earth, meritorious deeds done unan nymusly grows and gethers momentum.
