________________ (Pkt. Isibhāsiyāim), contemporary to Sūtrakıtānga (2nd Cent. BC) refers to the teachings of forty-five renowned saints of Sramanic and Brāhmanic schools of thought as Nārada, Bhāradvāja, Mankhali Gośāla, and many others. Similarly, Uattarādhyayana?, Šāstravārtasamuccaya3, Sanmati-tarka-prakarana24 and many more latter works bear many references of tolerance. Along with these literary evidences, we have some epigraphical evidences of tolerance of Jains. Some Jaina acaryas such as Rāmkīrti and Jaymangal Suri wrote the hymns in the praise of Tokalji and Godess Cāmunda.25 Jaina King Kumārpāla, Vişnuvardhana and others constructed temple of Siva and Visnu along with the temple of Jina which proves the spirit of tolerance of Jains.26 Finally, the following verse of Amitagati beautifully depicts the spirit of tolerance in Jainsm: Satvesu maitrīgunişu pramodaml klişteşu jīveșu krpāparatvamlı mādhyastha bhāvam viparīta vrttaul sadā mamātmā vidadhātu devalp? 22 Uttaradhyayana XXIII. 16 23 Šāstravārtāsamuccaya, 6/464, 65, 66 24 Sanmati-tarka-prakarana,3/69 25 Jaina Šilalekha Sangraha, Vol.II, "Introduction by G.
