Cyrillic Alphabet This consisted of 43 letters (Fig. 212-218) which are simpler than the Glagolitic signs. There is no doubt that the Greek uncial alphabet of the ninth century A.D. is the prototype of the Cyrillic, the greater number of the letters are identical in form and in the phonetic and numerical values.
