આ શૈલીની કેટલીક હસ્તપ્રતોની લેખનપધ્ધતિ પણ આકર્ષક બની રહી છે. લહિયાઓ અને લેખનકાર્યમાં ચિત્રશૈલીનો ઉપયોગ કરતાં હસ્તપ્રતોના મધ્યમાં સ્વસ્તિક, કમળ, છત્ર વગેરે આકારો સ્વતઃ ઉપસી આવેલ જોવા મળે છે.
આમ ભારતીય ચિત્રકળાના વિકાસમાં નોંધપાત્ર પ્રદાન કરનાર પશ્ચિમ ભારતીય કળાનું જન્મદાત્રી સ્થળ હોવાનું શ્રેય આનર્તભૂમિના શિરે જાય છે. આ ચિત્રશૈલીના પ્રદાનની નોંધ લેતાં સુપ્રસિદ્ધ કલામર્મજ્ઞ સ્ટેલા ક્રામરિચના શબ્દો દૃષ્ટવ્ય છે. “While it had lasted for half a millenium the western indian school of svetambara jaina Painting was the most acute creation of pictorial form in India.... To the surging plenitude of embodied form of classical Indian painting, as in Ajanta, the western Indian school holds up it stark planar brilliance, motionless, while shot across by frenzied gestures whose agitation wants to be measured against the never closing eyes on figures and the saturated ground of eternity."
