The subject of Bhāvasaptatikā, comprising of 72 stanzas is Jyotișa and the topics dealt therein are: divasalagna, ayanāṁsakarana, rātrilagnasādhana, natonnatasidhana, daśamabhāvasādhana, vinsopaka etc. The brief treatment of the different topics indicate the work to be an elementary text-book of Jyotişa.
The date of the composition of the work as given in v. 71 is V.S. Krsna, 5, 1740, Friday.
The title of the work is Bhāvasaptatika. (cf. v. 70). Kathavate, in his Report on the Search for Sanskrit Manuscripts in the Bombay Presidency during the years 1891-95, (Bombay, 1901, P. 59) and Aufrecht in his Catalogus Catalogorum records
