________________ T Born in a Jain Family Born in a Jain family, we try to understand the word Jain. Is it the way of life, or the way we think about life? Do we live a life according to what we think about? Jain, the word, says who we are really. Jain Agams say the universe is eternal, neither created nor destroyed. Our blissful, peaceful Soul is also eternal and cannot be destroyed. Our body and our Soul, independent of each other, change constantly Coexist with ease and fool us so cleverly. "Parmanu" (smallest unit) is free, unites as matter, becomes body, Soul in the body is free and their coexistence is temporary. Body changes forms, can disintegrate into Parmanu and unites again. Soul, once free, never can be fooled as one with body so cleverly. Chakravarti king Bharat looking in the mirror thinks about the missing ring. Thinks is my beauty in jewels? Realizing the real beauty and strength of his soul He was able to walk away from the kingdom Become muni, was able to live Jain muni life happily. Once human, the knower thinks as a free soul and not the body. A Jain can live as soul and derive energy from the eternal source, the soul. Thinking as Jain gives clear, everlasting, fearless vision of oneself as Pure, constant, happy, eternal, peaceful and blissful, freely. 99
