The total number of all the sūtras is 4685. Out of these, 3566 sūtras deal with the Sanskrta language and 1119 sūtras deal with Prāksta languages.
The present edition contains only first seven Adhyāys which deal with the Sanskrta language.
Acārya Hemacandra wrote a big commentary on eight Adhyāyas which is called the Brhadvịtti. He had written a small commentary on all the Sūtras which is called the Laghuvịtti. He had also written a small commentary on 1671 important Sūtras which is called the Rahasyavrtti. This present edition contains the Rahasyavrtti.
This critical edition is based on the only palm-leaf ms. written in 1218 of Vikram erå. The description of this ms. has been given by us in Gujārati and Saņsksta introductions.
In editing this work I am very much helped by my disciple Muni Dharmacandravijaya and his disciple Muni Puņdarīkaratnavijaya.
Sādhvī Jinendraprabhāśrī who is the grand disciple of my revered mother Sadhvi Manoharaśrīji, has helped me in various ways.
Mr. Mayūra the son of V.T.Shah of Pātana has carried out all the computer composition work.
