“એક જરૂરની દેવવાણી છે.
જયારે જ્યારે રાક્ષસવૃત્તિથી વ્યકિતની દિનચર્યામાં તેના હાથ લોહીથી ખરડાય છે અગર તે કલહમાં કે જૂઠા સોગન લેવાના પાપમાં પડે છે ત્યારે તે સિદ્ધ-સ્થિતિથી ત્રીસ હજાર ઋતુઓ દૂર હોય છે અને તે બધો સમય જીવનના દુઃખમય રસ્તાઓ ઉપર જુદા જુદા સ્વરૂપે ચક્રાવો લીધા કરે છે.
હું પણ આવી વ્યક્તિઓ માંહેનો એક છું કારણ કે સતત ચાલતા કલહમાં મેં પણ વિશ્વાસ મૂકેલ છે અને તેથી ઈશ્વરથી વિસ્થાપિત થઈને ભટક્યા કરું છું.”
એમ્પડોકલીસના આ તત્ત્વજ્ઞાનને વિદ્વાન લેખક ક્ષી –કોર્નફોર્ડ નીચે મુજબ સમજાવે છેઃ “This fall (of soul) is a penalty for sin of flesh eating or oath breaking.
