________________
No less are his contributions for the growth and upliftment of relegion and society. There were many septic wounds in the society and he proned himself to be an efficient surgon by successfully operating upon all of them. Being a great reformer he brought a harmony in relegion and society. He was very humble and listened to the people of all the sects, who used to come to him. To him, humanity was above everything. Guru Vallabh, with his high intellect and broder vision worked upon all the social and relegions evils prevailing in the contemporary society. He was widely accepted by all the sects due to his indescrimination of colour, caste and creed.
Dowry system was eating up the vitals of the society. Guru Ji tried his level best to abolish them from the society. He also worked hard on the plans of collecting money-funds from the people and then utilizing them in the best possible way for the progress of the society. He showed a new phase of relegion to all of us. He also introduced Sankranti Mahotswa in Jain Community for all above and other reasons he was known as Lok Nayak and Yug Parvartak.
As a Nationalist, he is hard to match. Being 74th Patdhar of Bhagwan Mahavir, he had a firm-faith in the golden principle of Non-Voilence. The Venerable Mahatma Gandhi Ji also believed in the same principle and used it as one of the main weapons for the liberation of India. Guru Vallabh believed, "The progress of religion, society and Nation is not possible without the independence of the Nation." That is why he actively participated in all the freedom movements, such as-Khilaphat movement, Swadeshi and Khadi compaingns, Satyagreh and Non-Co-operation Movements etc. launched by Gandhi Ji. Simple of habbits, Guru Vallabh used to wear Khadi and propagated his belief that Khadi was the best wear.
Although he was a great scholar of Sanskrit and Prakrit, yet he used the common men's languge-Hindi, for speaking and writing. He was a versatile artist. He was a great scholar of theology, history, psychology, metaphysics etc. Apart from this, Guru Vallabh was a brilliant orator, author and poet who apart from many other works in prose, wrote hundreds and hundreds of songs, hymns and poems in hindi.
He left no stone unturned to keep the words said by Vijayanand suri ji. Guru Vallabh dedicated major part of his life for the betterment of his Punjabi followers. It is evident from the fact that Guru Ji brought all his followers very safely from the town of Gujranwala to India at the time of partition. He ignored his own security and toiled hard for the security of his followers. This is one of the major reasons that our past, present and coming generations, will all remain indebted to his selfless deeds.
Having served humanity for about 70 years, Guru Vallabh breathed his last in Mumbai on September 22, 1954 at the age of 84. His death spread a wave of mourning throughout the country. But lets remember that great saints and prophets like Vallabh do not die with their corporeal death. They remain forever in the high principles and ideals they have preached ; in the celebrated band of their desciples who keep their torch enlightened from generations to generations and in the heart of their devotees and adorers. Today, with all our love, gratitude and reverence we are celebrating his 50th death anniversary. Its nothing but a token of love, high esteem and honour dedicated to our great benefector Shri Vijay Vallabh Surishwar Ji Maharaj. Guru Vallabh was indeed a Man of High character. May we given strength to follow the path shown by him for our bright future. Let us all remember:
"Great men die and reminds us,
To make our life sublime. And departing leaves behinds us, Foot prints on the sand of time."
