Gold can be reduced to ashes with the aid of the ashes of mercury, through the agency of the roots of plant, and with Sulphur. The first process is the best, the second medium and the third lowest or least.?
Gold leaves, pierced with holes and coated with a pastle of lemon juice and the ashes of mercury and roasted ten times are thereby killed. 3
Raupyaṁ (Silver) Rupyaṁ or Raupyaṁ (Silver) has been used in various chemical and medicinal processes as described in the Suvarna-Raupya-Siddhi-śāstra. Besides artificial Silver-making processes have been dealt with in this work. 4
The Rasārnava mentions two kinds of silver, viz. white and black. The one which is heavy, smooth, soft, and white is best.' The Rasaratna Samuccaya refers to three kinds of silver, viz. Sahaja, Khanija and kstrima, Sahaja is the best one, while kstrima is the lowest type.
According to the Rasārņava, silver can be purified by melting it with lead and borax and quench it with the oil of jațāmāsı three times.?
