The citations accompanied by the word iti, etc., increase in accordance with the progress of time which may be an indication of the process of gaining a recognized position of the T.S. in this tradition. Sull Agastyasimha alone quotes a sūtra by title only once. The following table exhibits a distribution of the referred sūtras in each chapter. A Sūtra with a single asterisk indicates that the concerned sutra was directly derived from the Āgamic text in its original form or with a slight modification. A sūtra bearing double asterisks indicates that it is a succinct and systematic presentation of the canonical concept which is originally expressed in the elaborate and prolix passages. A sūtra bearing no mark involves a disputable problem.
