They are previously described as well-versed in the twelve Angas, which include the fourteen Pūrvas; they are further described as Chaturdasa pūrviņah gegraut:-experienced in the knowledge of the fourteeen Pūrvas qe, with the object of establishing the supremacy of the knowledge of the fourteen Pūrvas in the twelve Angas. Besides, these Purvas were composed before; they are full of meanings of Mantras 9 Spells, incantations and many other sciences and they are very authoritative and hence their supreme importance. The possession of the knowledge of the twelve Angas and of the fourteen Pūrvas may relate only to the possession of the knowledge of the words only of the Sūtras; and to remove that doubt, the author says that the eleven chief disciples were समत्तगणिपिडगधारगा-Samatta gani pidaga dbāragā, ataforfors ITT: Samasta ga ni pita ka dhárakāh-nosegrealfa sivil-gag caeufqzxfaz-a GZEमित्र गणिपिटकं-द्वादशांगी, तदपि न देशतः स्थूलभद्रस्येष, किंतु, समस्तं,
