________________ 157 • Jambu Kumāra said१ अनेकानि सहस्राणि कुमार ब्रह्मचारिणाम् । स्वर्ग गतानि राजेन्द्र ! अकृत्वा कुलसन्ततिम् ॥ १ ॥ 1. Anékāni sabasrāni kumāra-brahmarāriņām; Svargam gatāni Rajendral a-kritvā kula santatim. 1. O King! many thousands of bachelor religious students bave gone son-less to heaven, without prolonging their continuous family. Many persons with sons go to hell. Now, Listen, “In a beautiful city, named arafesat Tāmalini, resembling tbe divine capital of Indra, there lived a wealthy merchant named ASTET Mahèśvaradatta. He was daily practising sacred ablutions, sacrifices, oblations to the manes etc. He had a wicked wife named affaat Nāgilā On the funeral day of his dead father, the merchant killed a large bull and was eating his flesh along with his family-members. At that time. a medicant came there on a begging tour, but on seeing the merchant partaking of the flesh of a bull, he returned back, repeating the following verse: पुष्णाति स्वपितुर्मासैः शत्रुमुत्सङ्गसङ्गिनम् । विधत्ते च पितुः श्राद्धमहो मोहस्य विस्मितम् । 1. Pusņāti svapitu r-mānsaih satrumutsanga sanginam; · Vidbattè capituh sraddhamaho mohasya vismitam. 1. See! this man gives oblation to his dead father and he nourishes the boy-his enemy sitting in bis lap with the flesh of his own father. Look at the wonder of at Moha, Infatution. .
