How is it possible that a child whose birth is the cause of joyous celebrations, whose birth leads to the distribution of of sweets galore, whose birth brings in a torrent congratulations and whose birth leads to great festivities in the inner nucleus family and the greater joint family can also be the cause of great mental anxiety to his parents?
How can a child who is supposed to be the emotional and financial support of the parents in their old age, provide the spark for their anxiety? How can a child who is considered to be the support of the future, become the challenge of the future? How can your own child, your own progeny challenge you?
A country where the upbringing of children is not considered significant, where there is no medicine of discipline and the shield of societal protection is non-existent, witnesses the above sorrowful scenario. For India too, this may be a harbinger of trends to come.
