On hearing this Dhandev could not think properly. He was spell bound.
He requested often thus, "I am not the thief nor I have murdered the princess. I have got this garland near the sea-shore."
But, who would listen to him ? Who would believe him? The thief was caught red-handed. Engrily the king sentenced him to death. Going to the place of the gallow, Dhandev heard one proclamation, "The prince has been bitten by a snake. He who removes the effact: of the poison will be given whatever prize he demands."
