Even when years passed, Champak thought that the old. woman was his real mothes When Champak became eight yearr old, the king of Ujjaini sent him to a teacher of arts. Champak was a promising boy. He be-came very learned in many arts. He obtained special proficiency in trade and Commerce. By nature Champak was mixing, philanthrophic, gentle and sweetspeaking. He was also very handsome. Those who saw him were attracted towards him.
Once some mischievous boys fought with Champak. During the course of exchange of words, the boys retorted :
"Oh Champak! Your pomp is like that of a prince. But nobody know who are your parents. Nobody knows your caste or gotra."
