________________ [ 2 s will try to add these also as a supplement. The value of the edition has been generally increased by the addition of Bhagiratha alias Megha Thakkura's sub-commentary Jalada and Bachha Jha's notes. Bhagiratha Thakkura was an elder brother of Mahesha Thakkura, Raja of Mithila, who was himself a Naiyayika of high order. He lived by the end of the 15th and the beginning of the 16th century. Ruchidatta also lived about the same time. Both were distinguished pupils of the great Pakshadhara Misra. It may be pointed out that besides Varadaraja and Vardhamana , Gunananda Vidyavagisa, probably of the 16th century, wrote also a commentary on the complete text of Nyaya Kusumanjali which was held in great repute in those days. It is to be hoped that in the next edition of this great work the publishers will try to reclaim from oblivion this useful commentary which will facilitate the study of Udayana. The Chowkhamba Sanskrit Series anthorities have been rendering a valuable sevice to Sanskrit scholarship by publishing regularly rare' Sanskrit works for the last sixty years or more. It is hoped that they will continue this noble work with great zeal and help forward rapidly the cause of Sanskrit Culture. .. . 2/A Sigra, , Banaras Gori Gopi Nath Kaviraj S. Mahamahopadhyaya M.
