________________ Brief History of the life of H. H. the Shaikh Saheb OF MANGROL. Shaikh Mohmad Jehangeermia Saheb the present Shaikh of Mangrol comes of a very ancient family of the Siddiki line of Arbia who appeared on the Western coast of Kathia war somewhere in the 14th century in the time of the Emperor Firoz Tughluk. Although it is belived that Sultan Mahmoud Ghuznavi on his way to Somnath Pattan reduced Mangrol and left territory, in the hand of his Gohil Chief in return for an annual tribute, the proper period from which Mangrol is found to be in the undisturbed possession of the Mohamedan rulers is in the time of Firoz Tugbluk whose General Ayazuddin bin Aram Shah really finally conquered it. Sbaikh Jalaluddin an ancestor of the Shaikh Saheb was a prominent personality in that conquering army. He was given a Sanad by the Emperor as a law giver. In 1531 Sultan Mohmad Begda of Ahmedabad captured Mangrol, but none on his behalf settled there. In 1592 Ghoga, Mavgrol, Somnath and sixteen other ports were brought under the Imperial Throne on Dehli and a Fauzdar was set on them.Page Navigation
