________________ 20 Kavyasiksa by Acarya Vinayacandra bears close proximity to Kavisiksa by Amaracandrasuri in time and space, but the two works widely differ from each other in the selection, sequence and treatment of their topics. The former seems to have inherited the bearing of Bappa Bhatti and Acarya Hemacandra through a different line of preceptors. On the whole Kavyasiksa by Acarya Vinayacandra seems to be a lucid and comprehensive treatise on the subject and would serve as a valuable manual to the aspiring poet for making literary compositions in prose as well as in verse. Indices : The text is supplemented by a General Index of proper names and important topics, an Index of the verbs given in Pariccheda II and an Index of the homonyms treated in Pariccheda V. The General Index will also serve to trace the references made by the author to early writers and works as well as the unspecified sources of citations, suggested by the Editor. Publication : At the end I express my sincere tbanks to Muni Shri Punyavijayaji and the General Editors of Lalbhai Dalpatbhai Series for their guidance and co-operation in the editing of this work. I am. highly thankful to Shri Dalsukh Malvania, the Director of L. D. Institute of Indology for undertaking the publication of this work in the scheme of publishing rare manuscripts with the publication grant-in-aid from the Ministry of Education, Government of India.
