We are advised to give up sins like violence etc when perverted belief / views are bigger sins. Why we are not advised to give up perverted beliefs here?
The five vows, be they minor or major, are observed only by a person with right belief. Thus perverted views / belief get extinguished in the beginning itself. Hence during discussions of the vows, we do not discuss perverted views here.

Which observances are fit to be contemplated continuously? Benevolence towards all living beings (maitri), joy at the sight of the virtuous (pramoda), compassion and sympathy for the afflicted (kr nya) and equanimity or tolerance towards the ill behaved (m dhyastha) are the observances fit to be contemplated continuously.

What is meant by equanimity or tolerance towards the ill behaved? Tolerance or unconcern, for those who have perverted belief or sinful disposition or are without modesty, is called equanimity or tolerance towards the ill behaved.

What is the subject of the observance on benevolence towards all? The subject of this observance is the realm of entire living beings. It enhances magnanimous disposition in the observer and eliminates the feelings of mine / yours.
