Election for the office bearers of the Society was held on November 23rd, 1997, when the following persons were elected as the Board of Trustees: Dr. D.U. Shah, Keerti Shah, Kishor Shah, Samprati Shah and Dr. Urmila Talsania. The meeting of the new Board, which was held on February 1, elected Kishor Shah as the Chairman of the Board. Southeast Surendra Shah, Regional Editor Atlanta, Georgia Jain Center Of Atlanta, Gerogia held the election for executive committee in December, 1998. Deepak Shah, as a president and all other executive committee members were reelected. Sheetal Shah has been elected to youth member for Atlanta Progress is being made towards building temple and assembly place. Southwest Jadavji Kenia, Regional Editor Phoenix, Arizona As planned, the Jain Center of Greater Phoenix had the annual Jain Camp at Payson, Arizona from February 14 to 16. A total of 62 youth and adults participated in the camp. The theme of the camp was "ONE BIG FAMILY". This camp was basically arranged and managed by the young adults from our Pathshala group. In the camp we had several religious as well as fun filled events. In the religious events we covered the basic principles of Jainism, Jain Cosmology, Tapa, Fourteen Gunasthan, Preksha Meditation, three Spiritual Jewels, Six Essentials of Pratikraman, Dash Laxan, Srimad Rajchandra's Six Pad Letter, and Tirthasthan's. Besides the religious activities, we had an interesting session on TEAM Jain Education Intemational 2010_02 The new Executive Committee was also elected: Prabodh Vaidya as President, Kanti Ravani as Vice President, Jagat Shah as Secretary, Hemendra Shah as Treasurer, Ajay Shah as Jt. Treasurer, Dr. Mukesh Doshi as Education Secretary, Girish Shah as Membership Secretary and Arvind Shah as Food Secretary. The post of the Youth Secretary remains vacant and as per constitutional provision the same will have to be filled up by the elected members of the Clarksville, TN Since last September Jain Society of Middle Tennessee has started Pathshala for the youth members. They plan to organize program during Mahavir Jayanti. Miami, Florida At the Jain Society of South Florida, the planning of Bhumipujan is underway. BUILDING and LEADERSHIP for the young adults. In between these sessions, young adults had plenty of time for hiking, playing games, snowballing, football, soccer, etc. and Swadhyay for the adults. On the second night, February 15, young adults and adults performed a talent show. On the last day, we had the exams, celebration of accomplishments, and filling out the survey form so that we can record and learn the pros and cons of this camp. We are planning to have a spring picnic in March and preparing ourselves to celebrate the Mahavir Jayanti program in April. The Jain Center of Greater Phoenix now has a central location for the weekly Sunday Pathshala. The students from ages 5 to 17 participate in the Pathshala and the adults do the Swadhyay. One of the Paths For Private & Personal Use Only Executive Committee. St. Louis The monthly meetings of the Society comprise of the prayer Bhajan etc. and end with the Arati and dinner. The January meeting was held at Hindu Temple when the directions for the new Center were given to the 50 members who were present. The February meeting is to be held at the residence of Dinesh & Jagruti Shah. Jain Society of Central Florida Jain Society of Central Florida elected the following officers: President: Kamlesh Shah Treasurer: Sanjay Vora Secretary: Sushma Lunavat hala teachers is planning to attend a Teachers' Convention to be held in Boston this year. Two Jain Mumukshus from Metro Phoenix area attended the JAIN Shibir held in Koba - India during December last year.. Tulsa, Oklahoma We are working hard to raise funds and prepare drawings for our plan to build a new Derasar and the Jain center.. We have mailed more than 100 letters to presidents of all Jain centers and directors requesting to help us fulfill our dream. We are receiving some responses. We appreciate JAINA for publishing our article in the Winter 1997 JAIN DIGEST edition regarding our plan and an appeal to all the members to send donations.
